Dear community,
Moving2Ireland.com is closing down.
We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver accurate information and up-to-date resources, delivered quickly and presented thoughtfully, to thousands of people looking to move to Ireland or settle into new surroundings. Over recent months, it has become difficult to guarantee the accuracy of information on our network. The Covid-19 pandemic has presented unique challenges, and we want to ensure that we’re able to provide information that helps you in your journey.
If you are looking for accurate information and resources about moving to Ireland, researched and written by experts, we recommend citizensinformation.ie. This website has dedicated sections for returning Irish emigrants and people around the world.
We’d like to thank a few people who made Moving2Ireland.com such a fun adventure: our commercial partners at AIB and migrant.ie, media organisations and journalists who helped to spread our message (especially Ciara Kenny at The Irish Times), and our dedicated editor, Patrick Bourke, without whom Moving2Ireland would not have been possible.
Most importantly, however, we’d like to thank you, our visitors, subscribers, and supporters, for making this place special. Your suggestions on how to make the site better and your messages of support mean the world to us.
We believe that the newly-formed Irish government has a golden opportunity to engage our diaspora by making real progress and putting together the necessary policies to encourage more Irish citizens abroad to build their lives and careers in Ireland. Previous governments have tended to look at Irish talent abroad as castaways. With this oversight, governments have missed the chance to repair a relationship that was broken after the last financial crisis when thousands were forced out by austerity measures. Further inability to engage and listen to emigrants would alienate them further. We hope the new government realises the potential of its citizenry, both at home and abroad.
We also hope that Ireland continues to welcome people from around the world over the coming years.
The Moving2 family is still going strong. For now, we are concentrating our efforts on our sister website, Moving2Canada.com, which continues to help many thousands of workers, families, and students find joy and success in moving abroad. If you are interested in moving to Canada, please catch us over here.
2020 has been a strange year for everyone, of that there is no doubt. We hope that you, your family and your friends can stay safe and happy, wherever you are and wherever you end up. We are rooting for you!
Slán go fóill,
Ruairi, Hugo, and the Moving2Ireland team
